JUNE Stamp It Blog Hop – Theme: SUMMER LOVIN’

Hello, My Friends!

Time goes by so fast lately, so we need to relax and enjoy the summer. What is your favorite thing to do in the summer? I have many things I enjoy in the summer including boating, the beach, BBQ and anything to do with the water. Today’s card is inspired by lazy days relaxing by the water!

The card base is Seaside Spray card stock measuring 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″. Two pieces of Whisper White one measuring 5 1/4″ x 4 1/8″ the second piece measuring 5″ x 4″.

Take your Whisper White card stock measuring 5 1/4″ x 4 1/8″ and emboss using the Swirls & Curls embossing folder. Then using the Stitched Rectangles the one measuring 4″ x 3 3/4″ cut out the center of the embossed piece. I then took the grass/wheat image from the Country Road stamps set and sponged Mossy Meadow on the bottom and Crushed Curry on the top and stamped along the bottom edge as well as the left and right-hand side of the frame. Then I took a little of the Seaside Spray and sponged around the bottom and between the grass/wheat image.

I then took the Stitched Rectangle placed it on the Whisper White piece measuring 5″ x 4″ marked the edges to create a center. I then use the Crackle Paint background stamp and Seaside Spray ink, stamped the bottom half of the center of the rectangle, now sponge lightly a little of the Mossy Meadow to create a grassy island feel. I then sponge the sky using a combination of Seaside Spray, Balmy Blue and a touch of Crushed Curry.

On a scrap piece of Whisper White using Crumb Cake ink, I stamped a Lighthouse image as well as the Small Boat from the Sailing Home stamps set. Now using the coordinating Smooth Sailing Die cut out the Lighthouse and the Boat images. Using Watercolor pencils and an aqua painter I colored the Lighthouse in the Boat image red for the Lighthouse yellow and blues for the boat used an Aqua Painter to blend the colors.

On a scrap piece of Seaside Spray card stock, I embossed the sentiment Hello from the Free as a Bird stamp set using white embossing powder and Versamark ink, heat set using your heat tool. I then cut out the sentiment using the smallest Stitched Nested Labels Dies.

Use Mossy Meadow and Pear Pizzazz card stock to cut out the Sea Grass images from the Smooth Sailing Dies using paper snips I cut them down, glued the Sea Grass to the bottom portion over the sponged Mossy Meadow.

I glued down the Lighthouse to the left-hand side and the Boat to the right to give the effect the boat is sailing on the water. I then lined up the frame over your stamped images secured using Post-it note I then stamped the Seagulls from the sailing Home stamp set and Memento ink on the frame as well as the stamped sponged image of the sky, giving the fact of flying seagulls.

Using Foam Adhesive strips I applied to the edge of your sponge images then attached the frame. I then glued these layers onto your Seaside Spray card base. Applied glue to the left half of the sentiment and it glued to the left side of the frame.

For a finishing touch, I added the  Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper to your envelope flap.

Your card is now complete I hope you have enjoyed!
